<p>When the world’s online population began to experience a phenomenal change in the way they communicate and socialize few years ago – from emailing and messaging to social networking, tweeting and micro-blogging, the Malaysian online citizens were of no exception from the world trend. Social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter since then have become the common destinations majority of the online users in Malaysia spent most of their time everyday.</p>
<p>Seeing the tremendous shift in the behavior of how consumers consume media, McDonald’s Malaysia took a bold step in May 2009 to be one of the first few brands to launch their fan page on Facebook (www.facebook.com/My.McDonalds) with the objectives to connect, interact and socialize with their target consumers.</p>

<p>Working in close partnership with idotyou, the One-Stop Digital Marketing Agency who specializes in providing social media marketing strategy and solutions for brands and businesses, McDonald’s first made known its presence on Facebook with a series of consumer activations to promote their RM5.95 McValue Lunch in May 2009. Within a month, the fan base grew to 25,000 strong and was very well received among the consumers.</p>
<p>Regular interactive campaigns on the fan page played a key role in growing the fan base and keeping the interactions with the fans going. Such campaigns include the Breakfast Challenge in 2010, Football Frenzy Game during World Cup 2010 seasons, What’s your G? Contest in July 2010, which turns out to be a big hit among the target consumers, and the recently launched Breakfast Mania Games in March 2011 which are fun, interesting and addictive wholesome family games for the fans and their families and friends to play.</p>

<p><strong>Introduction:</strong><br />
Clinique has always been the pioneer among the luxury skin care and makeup brands to try and embrace new digital marketing strategies to better reach and connect with their customers. Seeing the exponential growing trends of consumers spending more and more time online and on social networking sites, Clinique knows that embracing Social Media Marketing as part of Clinique’s digital marketing strategies is inevitable. </p>
<p><strong>Project Details:</strong><br />
In July 2007, idotyou designed and setup Clinique Malaysia official page @ Friendster, the largest social networking site in Malaysia back then. idotyou managed and moderated the social networking community for Clinique. Each month, latest events and promotional information are updated on the page, keeping the fans up-to-date with exciting happenings at Clinique. Fans could also take part in the “Tell Your Friends” contest every month, or sign up as a Clinique Member to be pampered by free giveaways almost every month. Every day, skin care problems or product related questions were posted to Clinique. Each of the questions was attended to carefully daily. The fan base has around 16,000 fans.</p>
<p>In January 2011, following the footsteps of the fans, Clinique migrated its fan base to Facebook, the largest and most popular social networking sites in Malaysia as well as worldwide. idotyou continued to manage and moderate the fan page for Clinique. Within a year, the fan base has reached over 45,000 fans with daily healthy and active fans’ interaction regarding Clinique products, beauty tips, events, promotions cum new and exciting contests and competitions.</p>
<p><strong>Results:</strong><br />
Today, Clinique remains as the leading luxury skin care and makeup brand with the largest and most active social media fan page in Malaysia connecting and interacting with their valued customers effectively via Facebook.</p>

Cupcake Chic wanted to increase its presence on the Internet as the market leader in the industry to reach out to the affluent consumers online and bring relevance to their needs. To meet this objective, a facelift of their existing website and transforming it into a comprehensive and informative Web 2.0 website is needed.</p>
<p>Cupcake Chic also wanted a solution that enables them to easily and frequently update their website with latest content and news without having to maintain an in-house web designer dedicated to the tasks.</p>
<p><strong>Solutions:</strong></p>

<li>idotyou redesigned the look and feel of Cupcake Chic website to enhance the overall user experience and content.</li>
<li>To enable Cupcake Chic to be able to maintain and update their own website without having to know HTML web programming, idotyou deployed the WordPress software as the publishing platform for the website. This allows Cupcake Chic to easily maintain their own website without having to incur any monthly website maintenance fee. This is perfect for small and medium businesses that wanted to have a web presence but not incurring any monthly maintenance cost to them. More importantly, it helps to improve the search engine optimization of the website so that consumers can find them easily on the search engine.</li>

The website allows visitors to comment, vote, give opinion and share with their friends about Cupcake Chic. It also connects visitors to Cupcake Chic&#8217;s social networking channels easily.</li>

The new Web 2.0 website is more intuitive, user friendly and informative. SEO improves tremendously. It ranks on top of the search results when you look for &#8216;cupcakes&#8217;.</p>
